The certificate of origin, also known as the declaration of origin, is a document indicating the origin of a good. A certificate of origin may only be issued if the delivery is ready for shipment and the intention is to export the goods.
A certificate of origin is always issued in the country of origin by the respective authority. In Germany, among other things, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is responsible for issuing declarations of origin. A declaration of origin offers some benefits and is also important for customs clearance to understand where the delivery comes from. The certificate of origin can also be a very important proof to be able to conclude export insurance.
