The tariff is a fee which must be paid on the importation or exportation of goods in a specific area. For example, if goods are imported into Germany, the appropriate customs duty must be paid to the relevant customs office. The situation is similar to the export of goods, because here too an export duty is due. The Customs has an important protective function for the domestic market. Due to the customs clearance of cheap products from abroad, these are often only available at a similar price to comparable products in the home country.
